Full Gear Predictions!

Tomorrow night, November 13, marks AEW’s biggest Pay-Per-View to date with Full Gear! This highly anticipated event is the promotion’s most promising card to date. That is an incredible feat for a company coming off the highly renowned All Out in September, but AEW continues to elevate their own bar to unattainable heights until they inevitably surpass it. Surely Tony Khan is lining himself up for back to back booker of the year awards.

There is only one word to describe this card: STACKED. There are massive stars loaded throughout the card from top to bottom in matches with unknown results. Seriously, I haven’t looked at a card with this many matches that I cannot pick a winner. However, there must be a prediction! So here I am picking the Full Gear card!

Let’s get to it!

Buy-In: Nyla Rose/Jaime Hayter vs. Hikaru Shida/Thunder Rosa

Our opening match of the night is Nyla Rosa and Jaime Hayter take on Thunder Rosa and Hikaru Shida in a preview of the second round in the TBS Tournament! This should be a nice appetizer for the main card and set the tone for the whole evening. Thunder Rosa and Hikaru Shida are fan favorites and I don’t see any reason not to put them over to start the night off with a happy crowd. Rosa pins Hayter for the victory.

Winner: Hikaru Shida and Thunder Rosa

Jurassic Express/Christian Cage vs. Superkliq

First up on the main card, we have the Superkliq taking on the Jurassic Express and Christian Cage. AEW loves starting big shows with hard hitting and fast paced matches. Therefore, I’d bet either this match or the next one on my list starts the show.

Jungle Boy, Christian Cage, and Luchasaurus have spent the last month being tormented and dominated by the Elite. Consequently, one would assume that means The Bucks and Adam Cole would probably lose in the big match at the PPV. I don’t believe this to be the case because this is Adam Cole’s pay per view debut and I doubt he would lose in such a big match with his best friends. Especially now that Bobby Fish seems to be in the fold. I’m going with the Superkliq.

Winner: Superkliq

Cody Rhodes/PAC vs. Andrade el Idolo/Malakai Black

Up next we have a feud that baffles me. I have zero idea where this is headed for all four of the participants. What’s the relationship between Malakai Black and Andrade? Are Cody and Malakai destined to fight forever? How do PAC, FTR, and the Lucha Bros fit into all of this? The match is littered with story and intrigue to where I have no idea how this ends. The pairing of PAC and Cody is odd enough to where I think PAC eats the pinfall. I feel like there’s a lot more to this match than meets the eye, but I’m going to take it at face value and go with Malakai pinning PAC.

Winner: Andrade el Idolo and Malakai Black

CM Punk vs. Eddie Kingston

Up next, we have a match that would my most anticipated if not for the main event. CM Punk and Eddie Kingston had two weeks to build a match for the pay per view and they created gold out of thin air. The tension they have created is nothing short of astounding. I truly believe that they want to kill each other over their past different upbringings in the wrestling industry. It seems like Punk and Kingston have used the Cena and Punk feud from 2011 as inspiration, except that Punk is now the corporate ‘tool’ that John Cena was portrayed as.

Eddie crafted a masterful promo during the Countdown to Full Gear (seriously watch it) where he says that he “doesn’t care if he wins or loses,” which signifies to me that he’s probably going to lose. I don’t want him to lose at all. Eddie Kingston being Punk’s first loss in AEW would strap a rocket on him, and Eddie needs a big win. He’s already one of the biggest babyfaces in the company, but his recent public struggles with depression have made him even more likeable. Unfortunately, I just don’t see it ending well for Kingston. I would love to see Eddie pick up the upset victory, but I’m going to give this one to the Best in the World.

Winner: CM Punk

MJF vs. Darby Allin

Here we have an interesting one. MJF labeled himself, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and Jungle Boy as the “Four Pillars” of AEW’s future. Two of those pillars face off in a true toss up where I might as well flip a coin. Regardless of how I predict this one, the finish will surely be the opposite. It’s an incredible feat of booking where two homegrown AEW stars are close to headlining a pay per view in two years time. The winner of this will surely be looked to be a new challenger for a title. MJF has already called out the winner of Omega and Page for the next title shot. That seems to be a little foreshadowing, as I believe that MJF will become AEW Champion in 2022. That being said, I believe the Salt of the Earth grabs a huge win against another ‘Pillar’ of AEW.

Winner: MJF

Minneapolis Street Fight: Inner Circle vs. Men of the Year/American Top Team

Next is a match that is my least anticipated. This entire feud baffles me and I’m excited for it possibly to be over. I’m sure the match will be fun and filled with Jericho and Lambert silliness, but Ethan Page, Scorpio Sky, Sammy Guevara, and Santana and Ortiz need to escape this brutal feud as soon as possible. Inner Circle will definitely win the Minneapolis Street Fight. Quick aside..

What makes a Street Fight specifically Minneapolis? Are they actually going to be fighting through the streets of Minneapolis? That could be fun.

One thing’s for certain, Jericho pins Dan Lambert in the center of the ring.

Winner: Inner Circle

Eliminator Finals: Miro vs. Bryan Danielson

If you want a perfect synopsis of Full Gear’s STACKED card, a Miro and Bryan Danielson match is being overlooked. These versions of Bryan Danielson and Miro would be a main event caliber match on 99% of pro wrestling cards, but not this night. Regardless, It will be fascinating to watch what kinds of deranged torture these two lunatics come up with. The question remains…who wins to be the next challenger for the AEW World Title?

Jon Moxley was going to be my pick to win the whole tournament, but he’s rightfully focusing on his own health right now. Does his replacement have what it takes to take down the man who is on a run unlike any I’ve seen in a long time? Miro replaced Moxley in the tournament and I was convinced that Danielson was winning, but I talked myself out of it. And I talked myself out of it because of two reasons: Firstly, Miro is unbelievable right now. He’s legitimately scary through his matches, his promos are otherworldly, and he dominated Orange Cassidy to get to the final. Second, he lost to Sammy Guevara a month ago and Bryan has wrestled nine times since then. Miro is fresh and I think he outlasts the American Dragon.

Side note, last year’s Title Eliminator final was an amazing bout on the storyline culminating in this year’s main event. Is this year’s Eliminator final foreshadowing for next year’s main event?

I doubt it, but that would be cool, right?

Winner: Miro

AEW Tag Team Championship: Lucha Bros (c) vs. FTR

This one seems pretty cut and dry, in my eyes. FTR have been royal pains in the butt for the Lucha Brothers for a few weeks and they hope to continue their success for the AEW Tag titles. After stealing the AAA tag titles from the Luchas, one might think they have the upper hand. However, I don’t think it’s in the cards for FTR at Full Gear. The Lucha Bros will need to overcome probably interference from Pinnacle members and Tully Blanchard, but I think they find a route to victory.

Winner: Lucha Brothers

AEW Women’s World Championship: Dr. Britt Baker DMD (c) vs. Tay Conti

Tay Conti is one of the most improved wrestlers on the planet since her signing with AEW, but is she ready for the spotlight? She has been a thorn in the side of the good Doctor for the past week and she’s earned her spot on the card. This match should be very good, but I just don’t think Britt loses yet. There are plenty of credible challengers in the Women’s division that Britt hasn’t faced yet and I need to see a Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa rematch for the title. I love Tay Conti, but I don’t think it’s her time yet.

Winner: Dr. Britt Baker DMD

AEW World Championship: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Hangman Adam Page

This is it. It’s his time.

Time for the Anxious Millennial Cowboy to overcome his demons, climb the mountain, and reach the summit to claim his rightful title. The two year struggle for Adam Page reaches its pinnacle with the most anticipated match in AEW history against his bitter rival, Kenny ‘by god’ Omega. Cowboy shit will happen, the crowd will ceremoniously explode, and tears will shed (not by me of course…ok maybe a little). Everyone wants to see Hangman win, nobody cares that it’s obvious, and it’s going to happen.

AEW World Champion ‘Hangman’ Adam Page has a wonderful ring to it.

Winner: Hangman Adam Page

And that’s Full Gear!

What do you think of my predictions? Yell at me about it on Twitter! Saturday night looks to be such a fun night and I cannot wait!
