Game Over Guesses: Double or Nothing 2022!

It’s finally here! All Elite Wrestling is back in Vegas for the FOURTH edition of Double or Nothing! That means Prediction time! We have a massive Thirteen matches between the Buy-In and main card. That’s the biggest card in AEW history and it looks to be an all-time great show.

I’m competing against my Wife again! We’ve picked the main card and if I lose, there will be a punishment!

Buy-In!

HookHausen vs. Tony Nese and Mark Sterling

I don’t think it’s crazy to say that the team of Hook and Danhausen can be one of the most over acts in AEW. The meteoric rise of Hook paired with the Very Nice, Very Evil sensation of Danhausen is an unbelievably odd pairing, but one that is crazy enough to work. We still have yet to see Danhausen perform to any capacity in the ring after his destruction by Tony Nese. Is he healthy?

This match should be great fun on the Buy-In and HookHausen starts their ascent up the tag team ranks with their debut win.

Winner: HookHausen

Jade Cargill vs. Anna Jay

We’ll start the predictions with the champ who’s been booked the best since becoming champ, Jade Cargill. The leader of the Baddies is still undefeated and has become stronger since adding Red Velvet and Kiera Hogan as an entourage. The Baddies are one of my current favorite AEW groups.

That being said, I’m at a loss for words as to where this match came from. Jade defeated Anna in her first title defense, so why does Anna get another try? The sole story reason for the match revolves around Anna saving Kris Statlander after the Baddies attacked her, which angered Jade enough to challenge Anna for a match at Double or Nothing. I’m sure the match will be good because their first one was too, but Anna saving Kris was out of left field. This outcome should mimic their previous, with the undefeated staying undefeated.

Winner: Jade Cargill

Wifey Pick: Jade Cargill

Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page, and Paige VanZant vs. Sammy Guevara, Frankie Kazarian, and Tay Conti

This match is the lone bout I could do without. Nothing about the TNT title excites me currently. AEW had the chance to breathe some interesting storytelling with an SCU reunion, but they passed that up to continue the quagmire that this feud has become. I hope this match finally puts an end to whatever story they’re trying to tell.

Winner: Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page, and Paige VanZant

Wifey Pick: Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page, Paige VanZant

Death Triangle vs. House of Black

This match is my personal favorite on the entire card. Rey Fenix’s untimely injury left this feud in limbo for a while, meandering through random team-ups and wonky stories. I hope AEW allows these six to create magic for fifteen to twenty minutes. This match could steal the whole show and I cannot wait. But who wins?

Honestly, I hope we let these six go nuts, have a conclusive finish, and let both stables go their separate ways. I do not have a clear ending picture in my mind for this one. I’m going to side with one of my personal favorites, Malakai Black, and the House of Black. This one’s a true coin flip.

Winner: House of Black

Wifey Pick: House of Black

Darby Allin vs. Kyle O’Reilly

This match was added during Rampage on Friday night. Kyle O’Reilly was a part of the beatdown on Sting, which caused in the Icon being injured, and now Darby wants revenge. That’s a simple story, but this match has dark horse potential to steal the show. These two couldn’t have more contrasting styles, which means a match dripping with potential. I love O’Reilly, but Darby has been on a little bit of a losing streak. The crazy daredevil gets on the right side of the decision with this one.

Winner: Darby Allin

Wifey Pick: Darby Allin

Young Bucks vs. The Hardys

The match everyone has hoped to see since the inception of AEW is finally happening at Double or Nothing: Young Bucks and Hardys in a generational match to finally see who’s better. The Young Bucks have had a rare streak of losing big matches. Can they right the ship in Vegas against their former heroes?

I’m going with my gut here. I cannot see a path to the Young Bucks losing two Pay-Per-Views in a row. There would be an interesting story where the Hardys pull the upset to send the Young Bucks reeling. That being said, I’m still going with the chalk.

Winner: The Young Bucks

Wifey Pick: The Hardys

Owen Hart Men’s Final: Adam Cole vs. Samoa Joe

After the Owen Hart tournament backet was revealed, it was clear Adam Cole was making the final. I tried to go against the grain and pick someone else besides Cole. Well, it’s been an awesome tournament and I’m ready to make the call. Adam Cole will be your inaugural Owen Hart Tournament winner. He will best Samoa Joe in a match that has match of the night potential, which could have some interference from Jay Lethal, Sanjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh. I’ve been waiting for them to pop up, but they apparently don’t care that Joe has been advancing. Cole outlasts Joe in a slugfest.

Winner: Adam Cole

Wifey Pick: Samoa Joe

Owen Hart Women’s Final: Dr. Britt Baker DMD vs. Ruby Soho

Since AEW refuse to create Owen match cards, I made my own crappy one!

The Owen Hart tournament Women’s final is a rematch from Grand Slam last year. Britt Baker defeated Ruby Soho after Ruby’s awesome debut and win as the Joker card in the All Out Casino Battle Royale. But how will the rematch end?

I believe this match ends how I thought Britt’s previous fight with Toni Storm would end. Jaime Hayter will factor into the decision somehow. Either she is going to turn on Britt or accidentally cause her loss. The Runaway will become the inaugural women’s Owen Hart tournament winner! She gets her needed big win.

Winner: Ruby Soho

Wifey Pick: Dr Britt Baker DMD

MJF vs. Wardlow

It’s time. Everyone knows what is coming.

All Elite Wrestling is Wardlow’s World. The rocket is being strapped to the big dog’s back, he’s finally getting his match against MJF after all of the crap he’s dealt with over the last few months, and the inevitable is coming.

Wardlow will beat MJF to officially be an AEW roster member. There’s literally no other way this could go. AEW has built him up perfectly. The quiet entrances allow for the fans to chant his name in a monstrous chorus, which has only grown his popularity even more. Wardlow will hit the Powerbomb Symphony on MJF to an explosion of a frantic crowd. It will be glorious!

Winner: Wardlow

Wifey Pick: MJF (She loves MJF and can’t pick against him)

Tag Team Triple Threat: Jurassic Express vs. Swerve/Keith Lee vs. Hobbs/Starks

This match confuses me. The build for this has been all over the place! Hobbs and Starks are the number one contenders, so they deserve to challenge, but why are Swerve and Keith in here?! Don’t get me wrong, this has a chance to be the match of the night. I’m having a tough time reading how this one will go.

I think Christian Cage is the wild card here. He’s the one who suggested the match and challenged the other two teams. He’s also been the exclusive mouthpiece for Jurassic Express recently. Combine that with the small teases of his anger towards Jungle Boy, I think he plays into how this goes down. Either he screws Jungle Boy in a chaotic triple threat match, or finally turns on his friends after they lose. Regardless, I think we’re crowning new champs. Let’s give the titles to Team Taz because Ricky Starks is amazing.

Winners: Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks

Wifey Pick: Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks

10 man Tag Match: Jericho Appreciation Society vs. Blackpool Combat Club, Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz

The entire Jericho Appreciation Society, Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz feud has been complicated. It’s been two parts fun, one part messy. It seemed like this feud lived through Groundhog Day for a few weeks, as it felt like Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz were continuously ending up on their backs every week. One would have assumed a popular guy like Kingston would have a friend or two for help.

Enter Blackpool Combat Club.

I instantly began to care about this feud once Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and William Regal started caring about Jericho’s dumb antics and intervened. But who wins in a massive ten-man tag match that will surely be asinine? We should probably figure out if Bryan Danielson is okay after his freak accident after Dynamite went off the air. Let’s assume he is!

With as much as the Jericho Appreciation Society has come out on top, I think the Babyfaces come out victorious. Also, the Blackpool Combat Club has zero business losing.

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club, Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz

Wifey Pick: Jericho Appreciation Society

AEW Women’s Championship: Thunder Rosa (c) vs. Serena Deeb

Thunder Rosa won the AEW Women’s Championship at St. Patrick’s Day Slam on March 16th. Unfortunately ever since she was coronated the queen of the Women’s division, she’s been relegated to small video promos and one middling feud with Nyla Rose (which I completely forgot about).

She needs a big win on a huge card. And unfortunately for my personal favorite women’s wrestler in the world, Serena Deeb, this big win must come at her expense. Deeb is coming off of a long feud with Hikaru Shida and deserves a huge win as well. I’d love for her to be a champion in 2022, but I just don’t see where that could happen. Rosa needed the belt, Jade is killing it right now, and Deeb is stuck in limbo. Regardless, Rosa wins in a match that could easily steal the show.

Winner: Thunder Rosa

Wifey Pick: Thunder Rosa

AEW Men’s Championship: ‘Hangman’ Adam Page (c) vs. CM Punk

And finally, we’re at the main event.

I have changed my opinions on this match so many times. I truly do not know who is going to win this one. For a long time, I held strong with a Hangman pick, despite the swell of support for the ‘Best in the World.’ Ever since CM Punk bested MJF, he’s been on a tear in every facet of Pro Wrestling. And he’s in the head of Hangman Adam Page. The self-conscious Champion is vulnerable. That could be seen in this past week’s amazing segment between the two. After that promo battle, I switched my pick to CM Punk.

‘Hangman’ Adam Page has had a really good World Title run. Despite the recent feuds being a little lackluster, the matches have continuously been great. Not to mention, his bouts with Bryan Danielson have been my favorite matches in recent memory. That World Title run has unfortunately been overshadowed by the resurgence of the great CM Punk.

Every single fiber in my being is telling me to pick CM Punk. It makes sense for CM Punk to go into Forbidden Door, in Chicago, leading the charge for AEW as its World Champion. We could have an AEW rendition of the Summer of Punk. Eddie Kingston, MJF, and now Hangman Adam Page have been calling for the fans to see the ‘REAL’ Punk. They hate him, and we should too. Does Punk show his true colors at Double or Nothing to screw Hangman?

There is just something that I cannot shake in this match. Something that I’m missing. I cannot do it. Just cannot pick against the Hanger. Somehow, Someway, I truly believe that Hangman Adam Page overcomes CM Punk to retain his World Title. I’m willing to be wrong and go down in flames!

Winner: Hangman Adam Page

Wifey Pick: CM Punk

Now tell me what you think!!!

I truly cannot wait for Double or Nothing!
